VIGIL magazine is looking for experienced writers who can tell stories with depth, description, and accuracy. Our writers will have a willingness to dig deep into matters and truths of the Catholic faith as they relate to women while keeping a simple, approachable tone and journalistic style of writing that is clear and truthful, beautiful and appealing. Each writer will produce a range of content from in-depth articles and genuine interviews to thought-provoking pieces and researched topics. The writer will ground the articles in Catholicism but with current touchpoints, and as such should have a knowledge of the Catholic faith.
Each writer will write for a designated department of the magazine and will be assigned their articles with the freedom to pitch article ideas for their department. They will work closely with and in a timely manner under our editors to revise and polish writing when needed. Experience in journalism or magazine writing and in conducting interviews is a must, while knowledge of AP Style is preferred but not required. This is a volunteer, unpaid position lasting one year with the opportunity to renew at that time.
